Lakeshore Trunk Sewer & Watermain Project Updates

May 13, 2026

For more information about the project and an overview of expected impacts, review the presentation from our the project open house held on April 15, 2026.

If you would like to report issues or damages, please email info@portcredit.com and zzg-lossmanagement@peelregion.ca

May 10, 2026 update: Elmwood Lot Parking Closure

Peel Region will be installing a new watermain and large sanitary sewer along Lakeshore Road between Jack Darling Memorial Park and Elmwood Avenue, and a new sanitary sewer on Wesley Avenue from Park Street to Lakeshore Road. We will also be replacing a section of watermain between Ibar Way and Shawnmarr Road. For more information on the project, visit our project webpage.

To complete this work, a working compound (construction site) will be set up on the northeast side of Lakeshore Road and Elmwood Avenue North intersection, within the public parking lot. This compound is essential for tunnelling and installing both the new large sewer and watermain along Lakeshore Road.

Please note:

We anticipate starting to set up the working compound as early as May 11, 2026, and will require it to remain in place until Fall 2028. These dates are approximate and may change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

May 4, 2026: Construction & Lane Closure on Lakeshore Stavebank to Elizabeth Street

An additional 3 repairs were completed from Saturday night through to this morning. One final (evident) leak will be repaired this evening.

Contractors and Peel Region are working hand in hand with the business owners.

Our community has expressed some frustration with disruption to the morning commute. Contractors are working through the night after peak hours and wrapping up as soon as possible prior to reopening to minimize impact to our business community and residents.

May 1, 2026: Construction & Lane Closure on Lakeshore Stavebank to Elizabeth Street

Port Credit BIA is in ongoing discussions with the Region of Peel Operations team, with a primary focus on minimizing impacts to our local business community.

Peel Region Operations has identified damaged water lines leaking into nearby utility chambers. This unexpected repair work is not related to the Project 19-2215 Water Main Project.

Crews are currently pumping water out of these chambers and plan to resume construction work at approximately 2:00 a.m. This overnight work is intended to reduce the impact of any required water shutdowns, helping businesses remain open during regular hours.

Construction activities will continue to be scheduled after business hours whenever possible to further limit disruptions.

Please note that the current lane closure is expected to remain in place through Monday.

Port Credit BIA will continue working closely with the Region of Peel to mitigate impacts on our businesses.

Businesses remain open, and we encourage everyone to continue to shop, dine, and explore #INThePort. Ample parking is available throughout Port Credit and remains unaffected.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Construction safety

Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe. Be aware of your surroundings when driving, walking, or biking near the construction area. Watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, and consider other routes.

On April 2, 2026, our first Mix After Six brought together members of the Port Credit business community for an evening of meaningful conversations, new connections, and strong community spirit.

✨ Kicking off Mix After Six the right way!

On April 2, 2026, our first Mix After Six brought together members of the Port Credit business community for an evening of meaningful conversations, new connections, and strong community spirit. It was wonderful to see so many local businesses come together to network, exchange ideas, and support one another.

A sincere thank you to Minister Nina Tangri for joining us, alongside MPP Rudy Cuzzetto, MP Charles Sousa, and Councillor Stephen Dasko for their continued support of local businesses and our growing community.

Throughout the evening, guests shared valuable insights on new budget proposals and initiatives designed to support small businesses, entrepreneurship, tourism, and economic development across Ontario. From proposed tax relief for small businesses to expanded entrepreneurship programs and investments in housing and downtown growth, the discussion highlighted exciting opportunities for our local business community.

For more information on the 2026 Ontario Budget and proposed initiatives, visit: https://budget.ontario.ca/2026/index.html

We’re also grateful to all government representatives and attendees who helped make the evening such a success.

Special thanks to Pazan Gallery and Custom Framing for hosting us in such a beautiful and inspiring space

This is only the beginning, and we’re already looking forward to the next Mix After Six happening on the first Thursday of every month

What These Changes Mean to You:

Port Credit BIA businesses should have received a letter from Peel Region regarding changes to Ontario’s recycling program.

As of January 1, 2026, Ontario changed how recycling is managed across the province. While most locations in Peel Region now have a new recycling provider under the Circular Materials program, commercial addresses in Port Credit will continue to receive recycling service from Peel Region.

What This Means for You:

Do not use unstickered carts, as those are designated for residential use only.

Why the Change:

Most locations in Peel are now part of Ontario’s new recycling program managed by Circular Materials. However, commercial properties are not eligible under this new program, and any promotional messaging you may see about these changes does not apply to your business.

Who to Contact:

For recycling or garbage service inquiries, please contact:

Peel Region
905-791-9499

wasteinquiry@peelregion.ca

Main Street Collection (Permanent Silver Dual Stream Bins):

Recycling materials from the permanent silver dual stream bins on the Main Street will be collected by Circular Materials.

If you are experiencing issues with your garbage or recycling collection, please contact the Port Credit BIA office so we can escalate the matter with our partners at the City of Mississauga Waste Management or Peel Region.

Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
